Thomas Devaney

Faculty (Tenure-track or Tenured) at University of Rochester. Research interests span Medieval (500 to 1500 CE), Early Modern (1500 to 1700 CE); regional foci including Mediterranean (all regions adjacent to the sea), Southern Europe (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Greece, Turkey). Thematically, their work engages Intercultural and Interreligious Exchange – Study of interactions between different cultural and religious communities across time and space., Religious and Intellectual History – Development of religious thought, philosophy, and theological debates.. Digital humanities experience includes Text Analysis & Digital Editions (OCR, TEI/XML, Natural Language Processing), GIS & Mapping (ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth, historical cartography), Online & Hybrid Teaching Tools (Learning Management Systems, digital course design, interactive online content). They are interested in collaborative, interdisciplinary work that advances intercultural research and public-facing digital scholarship.
